This house is a little three bedroom, 1.5 bath bungalow. It was nothing special. In fact, it was a bit of a mess. Here’s what happens when you get some new flooring, change out the trim, and then all new paint. Notice the ceiling. By whitewashing the cedar planks, then painting a faux wood grain on the rafters, the whole room is brightened and softened in the family room and master bedroom. I designd a soft cream color that we used throughout the home to lighten everything, with a steel gray in the kitchen and bathrooms for contrast against the bright white cabinets. Ceiling tiles got ripped out and I applied a smooth even finish of washable ceiling paint. The cabinets, once old oak, I repainted inside and out with a durable alkyd that cost a fraction of what replacing the cabinets would have been. To see more cabinet repainting, click here.
